Designated Methods for Submitting Data Subject Requests

Provide Methods to Submit Data Subject Requests

The Most Powerful Platform for Privacy Governance

When a consumer wants to exercise their rights under the CCPA, how will they do so? Under the CCPA, businesses are required to create designated methods for submitting data subject requests to access, delete, and opt out of the sale of personal information.

Clarip will help your businesses to establish the requisite ways to capture data subject requests from the consumers.

CCPA Legal Requirement

Businesses must provide designated methods for submitting consumers’ requests to know, delete, and opt-out of sale of personal information. These methods might include, as applicable, a toll-free number, an online form, a designated email address, or a form submitted via email.

Text of the CCPA Regulations

Methods for Submitting Requests to Know and Requests to Delete

Other acceptable methods for submitting these requests include, but are not limited to, a designated email address, a form submitted in person, and a form submitted through the mail.
  2. A business shall provide two or more designated methods for submitting requests to delete. Clarip Product Functionality

Clarip offers multiple ways for businesses to capture requests from the consumers, including a toll free number, email, web-based forms, and the Data Subject Rights portal with automation capabilities. Clarip’s fully customizable forms are designed to match the look and feel of the business customer website.

Clarip helps organizations establish a preferred method of receiving and escalating data subject requests from their customers (e.g., this may include an online web form, an internal email address, a customer portal, etc.). Privacy policies and notices should also be updated to direct data subjects to use the preferred channels. Employees who are likely to interact with data subjects and might receive such requests directly from the consumers should receive appropriate training so that they know how to handle the requests and, if necessary, reroute them to the appropriate channels within the organization.
